Live rock aquascaping

Dear All,

I would like to find out more about LR aquascaping using DIY pvc pipe structures and cable ties. Appreciate if anyone can provide a website that have such details and diagram.

I understand that LR have to be stack in such a way so that it does not create deadspot and should allow water circulation so detritus will not get settle in hard to reach area. How to?

Also, it must be added slowly and not all at once as this will end up with more dead rocks right?

Clueless on how to stack the rocks.

Alternatively can use eggcrates to stack them.

You can do a search on "eggcrates" and theres a few post on it.

build a structure first using the PVCs before selecting thr LRs.. perferbly at the back and corner of the tank.LRs can be drillled to secure the cable ties to the PVC structure.. epoxy should be used too.. excess PVC structures can be made hidden by branching rocks to make the aquascaping look natural.. Will creating caves cause deadspot or detritus built up?

Can I stack rock at the back of the structure too?

There are other more alternatives you can try - this guy from RC did some kind of support on the glass panel at the back - i presume he actually silicon some kind of glass to hold the rock in mid water.. pretty interesting

Just another concept ..... I am also exploring other than using egg crates and PVC pipes ..

To minimise deadspot, the position and direction you place your PH plays a part as well. It doesnt mean that you have no caves then no deadspot.

maybe u should pm flubberina13, she uses PVC pipe structures as the backbone to stack her LRs. wonder if she is still utilizing it?
