Scaping Idea

I am just wonder, why most of the reefer have scaping idea that rock leaned on the both side of the tank.

I mean

GlassRock Cave RockGlass

No space in between glass and rock. I am not so sure about back.

Any good points ? Or bad point.

My tank has space for fishs to swin at both side. Cave under rock. and behind I have space for them to swin also.

Different ppl have different points of view and thought as well.

Well appreciate, if you could highlight your rock work and share. So next time when I rescapre, I would able to gather all the good points from here.

I think AT's tank is scaped like this

But if you tame me, we shall need each other.

I also usually arrange my rocks to allow fish to swim around. Making like a track for them to swim around. The thing is, when you read some of the articles and books from U.S. they usual discourage leaning live rocks against the glass. Afraid to much force on the glass will crack it. But don't think this has happen here yet. Anybody had this experience?

For my scaping , I did it quite low and formed like an island with sand all around it, no rock touching the glass... its like a F1 circuit for the fishes to swim. According to Reefcentral, it will seem that its 2 different reef to the fiswh meaning a 6 ft length will appear like a 12ft cos of the 2 different views from both sides.

My scaping is lower than the usual reefscaping found in sgreefclub due to the specific needs of open ranged fishes like AT which likes open turbulent waters...

for me,

i like to scape LR so as to prevent 'dead spots'

allowing for good water circulation will also prevent detritus from building up.

having a cave feature might cause water in the cave to be blocked,

unless there is allowance for water to flow behind the scaping.

Hi all,

Would appreciate, if u could post the small pic of ur full tank, rather than search in member tank forum, for all our interest.

One thread to compare and get idea.

Cheers

My tank is LR to the back but got gaps or holes for fishes to swim through & tonga branches at the sides as LPS and SPS hangers.

Only disappointment is my 2.5ft depth which is quite tough for maintenance work at the bottom of the tank and also my powerhead is not strong enough to blow detritus off the LR & DSB at the bottom part of the tank. Will be upgrading to a Tunze soon, but still finding for information regarding the flow coverage of a tunze at 2.5ft depth. Also donno if a 6060 is more suitable or a 6080?

Mine 3x1.5x1.5 just installed Tunze TS07 and still have to run 1 x 1000L/Hr PH behind Tunze to have better flow + 700L/hrs external filter + 2,800 L/Hr return.

Should get TS12 :( I though Tunze6000 could able to replace/better than 4,800 L/Hr drive with SCWD. Better result lot than with SCWD. But still not enough.

So u might consider for higher
