Hi frens,

Any one ou there using Iwaki pump and care to comment on their

performance? Do they (Iwaki) have the same warrantly issue as the

Eheim pump mentioned in another thread? (ie LSF dun cover the eheim

pump because they are not for saltwater usage)

1) Do you need additional adapter since Iwaki pump are either from

US or Japan?

2) Each LFS here carries Iwaki pump?

Iwaki pumps are available directly from,

Iwaki Singapore Pte Ltd

63 Hillview Ave

#08-04 Lam Soon Ind Bldg

Tel : 6763 2744

They are generally very reliable and seldom breakdown. They are suitable for marine applications as they are chemical pumps. The pump casing is also very resistant to corrosion from saltwater.

No problem with voltage is purchased locally.

Iwaki pumps can last a very very very long time. They are actually industrial pumps.

They are not sold in LFS. You can buy them from Iwaki Singapore or source from overseas.

I am using the MX-70 and so are a few reefers here. I think they are also very happy with it. It does consume a lot of power though... and for something that runs 24hrs a day... hee hee... but nothing on the LFS market can beat an Iwaki in terms of power (pressure-rating) and reliability.

To calcium reef

Sorry, unable to reply to your PM, (error no such name).

In any case, i use it mainly for return, which splits into 2 outlets for a more even flow. There are 2 t-offs, one for the chiller, the other unused, but originally used as a feed for a skimmer

Thanks frens :thanks:

for all this useful info.

With the Ehiem thread going around, I am seriously

considering going for Iwaki pump. Its not a cheap pump

and this isn't the cheapest hobby. Hence, hope to get

99.99% of things right the first time :P

BTW Tanzy, Iwaki Singapore can bargain anot huh??? :whistle:whistle

Not unless you buy a lot of pumps. Iwaki pumps tend to be bigger, noisier and more power hungry and expensive than Eheims.

Try to get it from Hong Kong as its a lot cheaper than buying it in Singapore. You can get secondhand pumps once in a while.

I bought once an MD55FX for $50 and recently an MD30R at $80 bought slightly used.

Comparing an MD30R rated at ~1800 li/hr to an Eheim 1060 rated at 2200 li/hr connect to a SCWD is no contest. The Iwaki can drive the SCWD wavemaker with enough pressure and flow as compared to an Eheim which can only drive it at probably half the Iwaki output....
