I have very low dkh too, den when I focus on buffering the dkh, the calcium drop, when i couse calcium, dkh drop... just tested my magnesium is 990, will be buffering it up, but is that the cause of my low dkh and calcium?

dkh = 8+

Ca = 350

mg = 990

ph = 8.1 - 8.2

Pls help! :thanks:

You have ionic imbalance. Your magnesium levels are too low, get it up to 1350ppm.

Found out the realreason behind the ph drop in my tank. :angry:

The processed sea water that I bought from the LFS near my place only had a ph of 7.5 (I tested it to make sure it's ard 8.1-8.3 but instead it shows only 7.5)

The previous 20% water change causes the ph in my tank to drop since it's only a 2ft tank.

i'm having the same problem as u...

DKH - 8 (will go as low as 6 :cry2: )

PH - 8 ( need to buffer every now n then )

Calcium - 300 (dosing like shit )

Magnesium - use up one bottle already (stop dosing now, it stays at 1050ppm :cry2: )

Been changing water weekly for 2 weeks only at 20% each time , hope it improves.... <_<

Kaf,

there is quite probably another "realreason" why the pH dropped and it is due to the marginal dHK... if your water had say a dHK of 9 to 10 times, then the new water pH won't dilute your pH so much (well maybe by 0.1 to 0.2 points) .... buffer up your alk before you do any water change. You'll fine a great deal of pH stability... its comforting. : )
