SRC Member jc85 Posted August 11, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted August 11, 2004 I have been using T5 for around a year and have always been happy with its efficiency. As a result, have been always trying to improve the fixture. One of the key components in the fixture that can be changed easily will be the reflector. In scientific explanation, a reflector is “Something having a polished surface for reflecting light or heat, as a mirror, a speculum.” I was given an opportunity to test out the new AquaZ Spider Parabolic Reflector. Ever since I have tried using AquaZ T5 HO lights, have been eager to try out more quality products from AquaZ. I will be setting this AquaZ Spider Parabolic Reflectors on a ATI Retrofit 3FT T5 fixture. The original ATI reflector (more than a year old) comes with concentric cylinder reflector. The AquaZ Spider Parabolic Reflector comes in a protective sheet to prevent the reflective surface from scratches while setting up. SRC Member jc85 Posted August 11, 2004 Author SRC Member Share Posted August 11, 2004 The reflector uses two stainless clips to hold on T5 tubes. All I have to do is jsut to screw botht he clips to the reflector. Anyone should be able to do this without much problem. SRC Member jc85 Posted August 11, 2004 Author SRC Member Share Posted August 11, 2004 Below pictures clearly shows why it is called a "Spider parabolic" reflector. Take note of the number of angles on a single reflector. Quote Earth Conservation Blog My Marine Blog For All Sengkang Residents

SRC Member jc85 Posted August 11, 2004 Author SRC Member Share Posted August 11, 2004 The lenght of mine is 3Ft but I'm sure they come in varius length also, i.e 2ft, 3ft, 4ft, 5ft? To confirm will suggest you contact AquaZ (woonming) direct. The width of the reflector is 2" wide. Thus it fits into aa retrofit fixture prefectly. For pricing, AquaZ will be able to advise you. FuEl
Just got my reflectors today. Must say I am very pleased with the finishing and the mounting screws, nuts and clips. Since jc85 has already taken a close up on the individual parts, I shall skip this as I have already kept the reflectors & it's quite late. Ok..here goes... How my lights looked like in the past. Used them for sps without the proper reflectors. Just used a single aluminium sheet. This is how they used to look. FuEl
After adding the reflectors onto my old fixture (going to redo it with the help of dr evil), here is how it looks. The middle bulb has no reflector on it. Both the other 2 tubes have the reflectors. Notice the difference. FuEl
What you guys have been waiting for! *drum rolls*.......Let there be light! All 3 tubes fixed with spider parabolic reflectors. Note that the ATI bulbs are already 1 yr old running about 10 hours per day for the past year. Very satisfied with the results...only thing is that after taking all the photos I felt a little blind. FuEl
Yes..those are 4ft T5s. Should be brighter. As I notice T5s tend to brighten up slowly once they are switched on. Took the pics immediately after the lights came on.
