ligerton
No offence, but where and how did you put the biophos?
blueheaven
Correct me if I'm wrong, but i do not think Biophos is used for this function. You can: 1) Improve skimming 2) Use GAC Quote But if you tame me, we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I shall be unique in all the world... SRC Member damsel-in-distress Posted August 11, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted August 11, 2004 I think Blueheaven is right. BioPhos is a phosphate remover. Activated carbon should be used to remove dissolved organics which usually causes the yellowing in the water. Put 200gm in a netted bag in the sump for a few days and observe if yellowing disappears. SRC Member dradttg Posted August 12, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted August 12, 2004 I think it has to do with your skimmer and filteration system. I am using Biophos too. After the initial addition, the water will turn yellowish for less than 15 mins. Subsequently, you will see a increase in skimmate in the skimmer. That's how your PO4 is reduced. lufc
skimmer is tremendously skimmate... but the water still yellowish. anyway will get some activated carbon later on.

SRC Member XPeriment 626 Posted August 29, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted August 29, 2004 Jurong uses different water? Never heard of that. But not saying it's not true, I myself dunno. NEWATER IMHO does not come to us directly in taps (not yet anyway). It is used for industrial purposes (machine cooling, wafer fabrication etc) and is also introduced into our reservoirs to mix with rainwater before processing for domestic use. The Americans have been using this method for years and seems ok. Apparently raw RO water has zero minerals, which is actually less healthy to drink than the water we normally get.
