SRC Member blackpuma Posted August 8, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted August 8, 2004 Hi Ppl, I am going to buy some LR soon. Went to many LFS and found many type of live rock. Got rock full of macro algae. got rock full of pinkish coralline algae and also got dead rock in the process of being revived together with other LR being sold as "Live Rock". Prices range from $5 to $10 per kilo and sizes varies from palm size to big ones. Also got branches at 18 per kilo which I definately cannot afford, claimed to be from tonga. I am setting up a FOWLR and would appreciate if anyone could tell me what is the best type to buy. I also read from some book that the more porous the rock is the better it filters the water. Also where is the best place for good and reasonably sized LR. I don't mind paying slightly more for good quality rocks. The $5 rock is very smallish and comes with a lot of macro algae. Thx.
