Thanks to Glare for giving me a chance to test out this new Aqualight product Aqua Phos. Here's the start of my review.........

My first impression

1)Aqua phos is reddish brown colour, the same as Biophos II.

2)Size of the Aqua phos is also almost the same as Biophos II.

3)The instruction note is chuck on top of the media. Lose a few beads of the precious media while retrieving the instruction note.

4)To my surprise, there's also a netting inside(a plus point as compare to other phosphate removal).

5)No need to rinse with warm water, unlike Biophos II.

6)While rinsing the media with tapwater to remove the finer particles, I notice there're no exothermic(give out heat) reaction unlike Biophos or Phosguard.

Aqua phos 500ml instruction note

1)Phosphate removal for fresh water and sea water aquariums

2)No Aluminium output

3)Aqualight phos has no damaging effect on the water, even if it will stay longer in the aquarium. It will not give any compounds, as metals, into the water.

4)500ml Aqualight phos for 2000 Litre (Seawater), app. 4000 Litre (Freshwater)

My tank size is 340 Litres including my sump. When I was using Biophos II, I dumped 500ml of biophos II inside my DIY FR together with 1 packet of the Active carbon. I'll do the same for Aqua Phos, 500ml + 1 packet of active carbon. Only different is I'm using another DIY FR.

PO4 tested 0.1mg/l before using Aqua Phos. Will do another PO4 test tomorrow morning........so hang on to this thread for the result.......

duplicate thread leh..

Anyway I suppose it will be better to compare at a constant.

(ie previous usage compare to current usage, with all factors constant)

So previously if u are not using a FR, now testing this Aqua Phos,

you should not use a FR.

Previously I'm using a DIY 1L cylinder shape FR, now I using a DIY 2L "rectangular" shape FR.........pump is the same 800L/hr PH.

I think the only different is the extra 1L space in the new DIY FR. Doubt that will impact much on the Aqua Phos performance.

Here's the result after running the Aqua Phos in my sump for 48hrs. The phosphate absorbtion rate is superd, have dropped my phosphate level from 0.1mg/l to 0mg/l. Outbeat my Biophos II (max. 0.1mg/l) in such a short phase of time. I hope now the price for the Aqua phos will be as competitive as Biophos II ($68/kg) if not cheaper.

Overall review 4.5/5 (instruction note inside the sample & netting given is both ends open)
