Pls don't forget that the refrigerator is ON 24/7 and not like chiller which ON for 4 times/ 4hrs a day.

Simple Maths

Per day

Refrigerator 70W x 24hr = 1.68kWh

Chiller 400W x 4hr = 1.2kWh

Per week

Refrigerator 1.68kWh x 7 = 11.76kWh

Chiller 1.2kWh x 7 = 8.4kWh

Current Electrical cost

0.158cents per kWh

Refrigerator 11.76kWh x 0.158 = $1.858

Chiller 8.4kWh x 0.158 = $1.3722

don't think with their design they can control the temperature....anyway, isn't stable temparature one of the reasons why we are using chillers???

Adding a thermostat to the tank, link to the fridge power supply???

if the temp reach cut the power supply of the fridge.....

wondering if it will help

i feel that DIY is not just about saving $$$$....its fun to see what you can do with savage parts of eveyday items and then putting them together....

most of the time, i'll DIY then pass the DIY to someone else and then purchase a commerical unit.....

Why bother DIY since the chiller made in China is very cheap nowadays ;)

The price for DIY is still cheaper by around 1/2 compare to those china brand.

Think their thread mention, around $200. That can cool down <1000Litle

hmmm thinking of doing a 6 can fridge to cool down 2ft and below hehehe, wonder will work anot. if can, only $100.. for fridge and pump and etc

a refrigerator does not turn on 24/7 they work exactly like a chiller .. they will shut down/turn off according to temperature setting ...
