Question on how many hrs to light refugium

Hi guys,

have a question. how many hrs to light refugium? i have been switching on for 24hrs in a mth already. Lady boss making noise due to possiblility of high electricity consumption. need advice. i'm using 55w pl lights.

24/7 lighting ,

my sump is only 2 feet , i only use 2 x 11w pland it is growing very wild , need regular pruning ... B)

2x1.5x1.5 tank

Lighting: AI hydra 52HD

Skimmer: Deltec SC 1455

Reactor: Minimax; rowaphos

Skimz  ; NP biopellets

Wave Maker: MP 40 WQD

Return pump: Eheim 1262

Chiller: Arctica 1/10 hp

There is something I don't understand about 24/7 light too.

Under the sea, macroalgae don't need 24 hrs of sunlight, and in tank, why it turn asexual even when the light off for few hours.

Anyone care to explain?

Read in books by A. Calfo & E. Borneman, they advises to light refugium on a opposing timing as your main tank. Which means if your main tank lights off your Refugium will lights on.

This, they claim will prevent sudden drop of PH and oxygen levels in your systems.
