anemome moving around

as taught to me by an old friend of mine.

anemones like rocks that have little holes in them...so that they can crawl and sink their feet into the hole. find a rock with a bit of holes in it *big enough to accomodate the feet of the anemone* and then place the anemone next to the hole. with a little bit of luck, the anemone should crawl directly into the hole. once the anemone has sunken into the hold, and you are positive that it wouldn't move anymore *by trying to pry the feet gently* quickly feed it a small piece of market prawn. this should convince the bugger that it'll get food there and it'll stay there.

other points to note are the intensity of light within the vicnity and the strength of the water current around that area.

It looks like you are not feeding that fella enough and that's why moving arond to search for food because of hunger.

Hand-feed that fella constantly at one spot and it will stays there.

You can create an artificial hole (trap  ) using small rocks to surround the area you want it to be.

As previously mentioned, flow rate at the location is very important. Some like it calm, others like a little more. But definately not stagnant areas (not that you should have many such area in your tank)!

not easy to be anemone owner

btw, what kind of lighting and flow rate is required?

I highly doubt phyto does anything to an anemone! (=

I feed it once a day with market prawns...but that'll encourage it to grow DAMN big within a short period of time *I swear this is a size difference even after one week*

if you want to, feed it every other day to get it big....or twice a week. up to what you are comfortable with. but try not to overfeed though. it may cause the anemone to expel the food. (=

I would rather feed it a small piece of market prawn every few days... it wouldn't die... :)

Juz my $0.02...

I agree, the anemone doesn't like its base exposed... and if its a rose anemone, dun place it too near to the light... :)

Offtopic, however want to share my experience with my anemone. This guys keep moving eventhougt I fed him , he opened like crazy, but he is keep moving. In the evening, u would see him at one side of the tank and next morning u would find him there but opposite side of the tank mean he travelled 3' in 10 hrs.

Guss what, the snails giving him trouble, first we though it's just coaccident. however I do notice whenever anemone moved, the snail will be at anemone's position. So I guess, there are other factors as well.

Bro, your anemone exercising lah... kekeke... on a serious note, could it be becoz of the natural sunlight your tank gets?!

Talking about snail, I was surprised to find my rose anemone moved from rock to glass surface last night. Then I realise it actually stick on to 1 trochu snail.. :D

You might wanna try holding the anemone to the place where you want it to be for about 3 mins.It should stay there for a while. This did work for me. And then u may try the prawn trick mentioned by terryansmon to keep it there.

BTW Anemone moving all over the tank is not a good sign. Ur baby's not very happy about something in the tank.Check the basics water, lighting etc.

Maybe depends on the type of the anemone ? , like me i got a sebae, when i just bought it, i placed it to a place i liked n it stayed there(on the sand next to the rock) even it it moves , only a few cm here n there , i also feed it everyday, not cut down to once a week, so far so good :D
