DeepBlue
It shrunk...but is it momentary or....you see it 'rotting' away? Is your skimmer skimming out more suddenly? Are you running carbon in your tank? if you really cannot remove it...hopefully this will help..... more frequent water change will also be good ...but must watch water parameter....too much fluctuation would give you more prob. really no way to remove the rock? SRC Member hamannbmw Posted July 29, 2004 Author SRC Member Share Posted July 29, 2004 thanks bro, It shrunk...but is it momentary or....you see it 'rotting' away? Is your skimmer skimming out more suddenly? I saw its intestine ... all the while when i on the lights it will be in full bloom, but not today , i guess its due to the "UltraLife red slime remover", i off my skimmer becos it will flood due to the slime remover Are you running carbon in your tank? if you really cannot remove it...hopefully this will help..... I do not have carbon in tank more frequent water change will also be good ...but must watch water parameter....too much fluctuation would give you more prob. No choice, wat to do........ really no way to remove the rock? its the base rocks.... with some corals n lots of rocks on top. I tried using my hand and also a card to try n scrape it off slowly, it doesnt move .. , how about using a power head ? or b4 it dies will it lost its foothold ? when it release its foothold will it release toxic ? roidan
can u gain access to its foot now? or it has hidden beyond reach? Quote Advanced Aquarist (March05)
SRC Member hamannbmw Posted July 29, 2004 Author SRC Member Share Posted July 29, 2004 i can gain its foot about 50%...........the rest r hidden
roidan
if it is still sticking to the rock despite you scraping it slowly, means still alive. probably you can leave it to recover or regenerate on its own....anemones have very impressive regenerative abilities....if it was in your tank for some time already, it should be able to recover.. but nonetheless, if your immediate priority is to get it out by hook or by crook...this is what i suggest... wrap an icecube in a new clean plastic bag.......and slowly press it along the foot... the foot will release its grip slowly what you dun want is to expose the anemone tissue to direct salinity of the ice....but you just want the coldness to dislodge it for removal....even if the ice melts in the plastic bag and gets into the water, dun worry, it wun dent your main tank salinity give it a try....forcefully scraping it may tear the anemone instead. roidan
u mean even the coldness cannot dislodge the foot? wow...then for such a show of willpower, u should leave it to recover Quote Advanced Aquarist (March05)

SRC Member Guinness Posted July 29, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted July 29, 2004 Is the ice cube method usable on other anemonies? I have a tough one that is one the wrong rock (imo) but it's too strong for me to move it.
vincegoh
Just to share my experience. ONce the anemone start to "rot", it should be dead. U may be surprised that even though it is dead, it will still cling onto the rock. Good luck.
