Tips of SPS blowing up

Gee that doesn't look healthy (as in normal) at all. :pinch:

The affected ends look inflamed and tender and it appears to spreading to the lower parts as well. Did it happened just one morning or it started slowly and spread from one end to others? May be a good idea to have it remove to some QT first as it looks diseased and do a major water change, JMHO.

all the best though,

Symptoms around for about a week. Does not spread. Tissue and polyps still in tact. Water changed by 25%. All parameters ok but a little low on Ca (330ppm). Any advice on what this is? Good or bad or neutral for the SPS.....I don't know but other colonies no prob. These two affected colonies no signs of RTN or dying.

New discovery. Seems like when in the dark, the tips don't swell as much. When lights are most intense, the tips swell the most. Still everything else ok.

Latest update to share.

The bloating tips will 'spread' but it is not a disease. The tips will bloat until it 'explode' but the tips will grow back without RTN.

I can confirm it is due to ionic imbalance. After doing 30% water change and getting the Ca to go back to 380ppm, the tips are slowing recovering to normal conditions.

What a relief!
