is it a good idea to get an overrated chiller?

would it be a good idea to get a chiller that has a capacity much larger than the size of my tank?

any benefits in terms of saving elec or stability of temperature?

IMHO,yes,a bigger chiller will give u the option to upgrade to a bigger tank.it will chill your tank faster thus saving more electricity,u'll never know when u'll wanna keep sps or lighting intensive corals and should u upgrade to a mega-wattage MH,a smaller chiller may not be effecient.

BIGGER=more cooling power=less chiller runtime=less electricity=lowered running costs

however,u'll need to pay more upfront first....and please,do not save money when buying a chiller.....

I dont agree.It should be slightly overrated only in terms of Hp else you will find that you are using more electricity instead.
