Qns on damage sps??

Recommended Posts

given the right condition and proper aclimatisation...they should recover in no time...

basically mechanical damage should be alright...

but if signs of stress and tissue loss(continued loss in this case) ....fraid it might die.. :erm:

hi kim,

if you are talking abt plating montipora, it will recover and show growth pretty quick. the last time when i discovered patches of white (probably nudis), i took it out and scrap those areas. after 1 wk, new tissue and polyps start to grow.

like what deepblue says, once it starts to stress and lose tissue very quickly, then good luck. sometimes u can even smell that it's a goner. but do monitor and wish u well.

cheers

just brought 1 montipora which the edges is crack n a ACRO

which one of the tips seen skeleton.

will they die in few week time?

How quickly they recover or die really all depends on your water and lighting conditions.

Perhaps you'd like to share with us your tank setup and water parameters.

Pictures would help too...

on the issue of damaged SPS...

some of my acro's tip has touched other acros as I dun epoxy them to the rocks...result was the tip being burnt and sort of rtned......I am trying 2 ways of allowing them to recover

1 --> leave them alone to let them recover..let the tissue grow back

2 --> frag of the tip and let them grow again..

any suggestion which is the better method??
