brain Coral Turn white instead of red

As above, my Brain Coral (LOBO) turn almost white for a few days alraedy..My other corals in my tank is opening up except for this brain coral..why is this so?? IT's skelton is not shown and the whole flesh is white in colour instead of red :o I am using a 10KK MH and ..Is it bleached under strong lighting???? what should i do? :thanks:

I think its because of your strong lighting.

I remember seeing the effect of strong lighting on brain in one of the bro's tank. Part of his brain turned white too directly under the 250W MH light.

Another thing to note is that the brain dont like strong current. I read it from one of the books.

It has bleached mostly due to exposure to too strong lighting that the coral isn't used to.

It's still alive but I suggest moving it to a shadier area. It may take a few months but it will colour back up.

You may have to feed it with meaty foods like mysis shrimps to help it along.

All my LPS don't do well under direct 250w MH. I always place them at the side of the tank away from direct light.

The LPS I placed in my wife's tank with PL & T5 do well.

I've got a brain that is badly bleached. I place it away from my MH and fed it with meaty market prawn (w/o shell) soaked with Kent zeo (vitamin) and it recovered.
