Hi,

Does ya budget fit just the camera? U prolly need some extra top-ups forr storage (e.g., memory sticks, compact flash , SD, XD, etc) and maybe battery and maybe tripods!

Using it for tour? does size matter?

Think Canon released a new cam -- S60, very nifty w/ its 28mm at widest (ie, good for landscape shots)

hi all,

my budget fits the camera and the basic stuffs like memory card, etc......

i dun need all the extras like tripod stand, etc......

for general use only, esp.... taking pix of my reef tank next time, go honeymoon....... :P

yes size does matter, i want it to be as compact as possible. but i do want a good grip on it and be able to take good quality pix.

Ryan...

what do you want the camera for? mainly point and shoot? or are you exploring the possibilities of expanding your photography skill with it?

if I were you, I'd increase my budget slightly and get a semi-pro/pro camera. the reason being is that the latitude for you to expand your skills are there. the lenses used will probably be of better quality *larger apperture, shuttle speed, lens construction...etc*

another thing to factor in will be the power consumption of the device itself. most digital cameras are notorious for drinking batter juices like it was a thirsty camel deprieved of water. the other issue with batteries are whether you get the standard rechargeable/replaceable types or the camera company issued types *this means whether it can be replaced with another battery...say a normal alkaline AA battery or must use back a standard battery pack.*

also, take not of user friendlyness. like ease of navigation through menus, ease of manipulating settings/photos/etc. I'd recommend you go down to a reputable camera shop like Cathay photo and ask them for some help. the guys there give decent advice, and they also allow you to try out all the cameras that you want.
