PBT skin peeling?

HI guys,

My PBT that i got about a week ago doesn't seem to be eating very well plus recently its got a case of the ICH. Now around its left eye area, it's skin has a huge white-ish colour...as if its peeling.

Is it a gonner? How can i help it?

It sounds like marine velvet... it is definitely worse than ich.

Your fish may be a goner if it doesn't eat strongly and unable to overcome the stress levels.

oh dear...sounds like the same that happened to my salfin tang 2 weeks back - put him back to QT immediately when I notice that, but was too late and it went to tang heaven........is marine velvet contagious? should i be worrying about my other fishes

There are many fish species like Tangs/Surgeon Fishes that seem to be easily prone to contacting Ich which has a lot to do with the thin skin these fishes have.

For example, if you are familiar with the Achilles, Goldrim, and Powder Blue Tangs, you know that they have soft, thin, almost velvety like skin which sometimes they're refer to as "Ich Detectors".

Reason being they will usually be the first fish to come down with ICH.

The Yellow Tang is also another top candidate for Ich, even though its skin is a little thicker but the Naso Tang have a rougher, thick, tough skin, therefore more resistant.

If you want a less stressful life and want to keep this fish, suggest to insure good water quality to avod them from getting stressed. Stress will breaks down the immune system (slimy protecting coating on the fish) and allows the parasites to gain a foothold.

Otherwise avoid these fishes that are known to be prone to coming down with Ich very easily.

thanks for the advice guys......but my PBT just kicked the bucket. Only had it for about a week.....sheesh!!!
