Help ID Hiar Like Algae

Hi all,

Would like to confirm with the experts here who are marine fish longer than me to help confirm the green hair like grass on the live rocks . Are they beneficial ?? Other than unsightly will it cause any damage to the overall FOWLR setup ? Thx .

Looks like filamentous hair algae alright. Get that rock, and whatever others that are affected out of the tank and give it a good scrub. Dont scrub it in the tank water. Do regular water changes, and keep your nitrates and phosphates low. Get your calcium and alk to appropriate levels, to get good coralline growth on your LR.

Never let it proliferate further. Once it goes out of hand, it will be hell hard to eradicate.
