Actually Philips and Osram does have 400W FC2 holder based double ended bulbs. Just that maybe they do not have the K that is desired for marine tanks.

Have the itch to have my Azoo MH modify from

250W + Blue + 150W + Blue + 250V

TO

400W + Blue + 250V + Blue + 400W

Not doing the centre to 400W as that is the rock landscape channel

I think HQI meant for both, DE or SE. Its just a standard used originally by Osram and its been used commonly now by most bulb/light system manufacturer. Go to Osram website to find out more. But best if you ask desong if he is using DE or SE as 400W comes with FC2 or E40 holders.
