Hi, recently i just bought a H&S skimmer (for max. 400L). Noticed that the connector between the skimmer and the pump is very loose fitting. When i switch on the pump, the connection actually breaks off. Anyone with similar problem? Advice on how to solve it? Thanks

Hi, not too sure whether is this the same scenario. I experienced a similar situation when i was using the h&S skimmer. The skimmer body and the pump is linked by a short piece of pvc tube. The problem lies in this pvc tube. It is not secured. That means it can be pushed in if too much force is used to attach the pump. What i did was to use the butt of a screw driver and knock the pvc tube out from inside of the skimmer body. I knocked it enough to give me some allowance to attach the pump to it. Or, alternatively you can use a plier to pull out the pvc tube, provided it is not too deep inside.

yup, I'm refering to the same short PVC pipe. You mean it can actually get trapped in the PVC pipe? hmmm.... just wonder why the thingy isn't stuck firmly to the pump.

In my case, the connection was loose and the pump wasn't firmly stuck on the glass, so it sort of slided away and the pipe also came off.... I tot my equipment was faulty or something. The pipe came together with the skimmer in original packaging. Is it meant to be this loose, or did I fitted it incorrectly?

It is not that loose but it can be pushed in, if excessive force is used to attach the pump. The only reason that I can think why the pipe is not secured firmly to the pump is for easy maintenance.

I have checked with SL and it came like that originally.
