Overflow Box

i want the water flow from my tank to the overflow box to the sump and from the sump to my pump and back to the tank. i use the sump for filteration purposes.

my question is if my pump stops working. can the overflow box stops the flow as well. since the pump is not connected to the overflow box. if not, what can i do.

please advise.

think there should be no problem at all as long as you have a holding chamber in your tank where the siphon shall take water. this will be just right above the water surface with gratings so water can flow through. Once your pump stops, there wouldnt be enough water to fill in the chamber thus stopping your siphon automatically as well
