Tank requirement for Clam

Strong lights. At least T5s. Keep temperatures from reaching above 29 degrees celcius. Choose healthy specimens...not gaping ones.. Place them at suitable spots (bright light, good water flow, away from other corals)...look out for pests like pyramid snails..Small clams will need phytoplankton feeding as supplement. Make sure fish or inverts don't disturb them. Keep water quality high.

Always something more important than fish.

This is your first clam.

Do not keep shifting the clam from one place to another

This is what happen to my first clamn and finally shift to lorry because "mati"

Thanks. Me got a double tube T5. But the temperature is around 28.2 to 31 depend on weather.

temperature is too high...maybe your t5 have lost its intensity...try placing them directly under the lights...

as for temperature, can use fan if u are on a budget...my tank uses 1Xprofantic fan, currently temperature remain below 27...but during the hot spells, it will go up to 28+...

In my opinion, 2 T5s are insufficient even if your tank is very shallow.

I think your problem is in your lighting. I'ld recommend getting around 4-6 tubes for T5s or even MH. Another problem may be due to your calcium levels.Clams need quite a significant amount of calcium. Plz correct me if i'm wrong. =)

Yes, do watch your calcium level, my tank had clams in it for months with calcium at a very low level...<300ppm....

then i started on SPS and watch my Calcium level closely (now around 400ppm)...you can really see new growth on the clam!!!
