Going to make a custom tank... will something like this work? I'm concerned if it will hold the weight of the water, etc.. the measurements are in mm. Its a 3ft tank and about 24 inches high. The water level will just be 1.5 inches below the maximum height. The glass will be 8mm all around. Is it safe to do this? Please give me your suggestions!

In general the seawater is not much heavier than normal water. when you say saliniy of 1.020, it means that sea water is only 2% heavier than a fresh water tank.

However you probably plan to have a lot of LR resting on the back panel right? Better go for 10mm if you can afford it. alternatively, wider Eurobracings and a thicker base would make the tank stronger too.

I recommend you do bracings along the front of the tank and back as well

As for the overflow, i recommend you do an all-round overflow rather than only 1 side

But if you tame me, we shall need each other.

Bracings all around? That means the brace plates will be sitting atop one another? The reason I did a one sided overflow is because the hole on the covered side is meant for the return piping.. I'm planning to have both overflow and return pipes on the right backside of the tank.

Better use a 10 mm glass, my previous tank was a 3 x 2 x 2 feet using 10 mm glass without front braces and it bulges out so much that the curve in the front glass is noticeable. 8 mm will give way unless your height is only 18 inches.

Yes the plates will sit on each other

Instead of the return piping going through the overflow, why not have it over the box instead?
