:off: Do you know who is the target audience (owner/buyer) for the MPV when first introduced and why ?

:off: Do you know who is the target audience (owner/buyer) for the Ford Mustang when first introduced and why ?

Answers given when I have a sufficient audience requesting. Hahahah .... must "tarik" a bit.;):P

If no audience for me, then dig a hole in the ground and bury my head like an ostrich. :cry2:

some SUVs does have 3rd row seats.

the diff is, SUV was meant for more robust usage, a workhorse. eg. rough road. But frankly speaking, nowadays... who in the world will bring their XC90 or BMW x5 go jungle trekking ?? :) a long the way, things improved(evolutionize??)... so does the quality of the SUV. One thing for sure... a SUV has 4wd system capability(be it partime or fulltime).

MPV is basically a souped up van(sorry... know some MPV owners hate to associate their beloved with a van) with added touch of luxury eg. leathers, xenon, automatic door opening... blah blah blah... MPV do not have 4WD capability(very seldom you can see a MPV with 4WD system)

SUV - image of robustness... may not be true anymore.

MPV - people carrier

But XC90 , X5, Audi's All road r more luxury than MPV ( Jap car ). So far I have not seem any euro MPV ? Or I missed out ?

Yea forget about 4WD or so call AWD.

nowadays... who in the world will bring their XC90 or BMW x5 go jungle trekking ??

I WILL FOR SURE , haa haa, one of those car be my next car ( still eyeing lar, no enough money yet ) and will drive to Laos, China and may be all the way to Hong Kong :)

I already drove my A6 all the way to Laos ( just at border side , cuase my suspension is too low for Laos's road.

X5 is 300K.

A6 was 200K and yes it's not SUV so I am moving to SUV.

Well, I drove that 200K sedan to Laos :D not SUV. Even @ Thailand border, they already known me by name cause I was only stupid fellow to drive exp car to Laos.

I want to see Laos , Cambodia and China on MPV so moving to MPV.

I compared MPV and SUV, mean that eventhough X5, Allroad and XC90 are SUV but more luxury than MPV

if you are thinking of driving it off-road or rough terrain, then you should go for SUV. i think only volvo XC90 have 3rd row seats(for kids) or ssyangyong(korean) rexton(very big SUV, but poor driveability).

Third row on XC90 ? Singapore version ?

hehe... i didn't know the real price(don't need to know cos no money)... that is why i just say >150k... :)

MPV, fiat ulysse(not sure of the spelling) is not deemed as luxury(due to the branding) BBUUUTTTT.... i tell you... this MPV packs with features and goodies...

i can think off...

automatic sliding door.

5star crash test safety

phone SIM card insertion(ala s80)

digital control air-cond up to 3rd row.

LCD screen on the console ala 5/7 series

very HIGH-TECH computer system

3sunroofs

man... Peugeot807, citroen c8 and fiat ulysse share the same platform. but comes in different package. Being the least popular, fiat packs a punch...

good in europe... but not in singapore. usually, ppl will go for Estima/Oddessy if you talk abt high-end mpv(japan)

"ppl will go for Estima/Oddessy if you talk abt high-end mpv(japan) "

Because those are cheap.

Me will not consider those, cause I love to drive fast , so want safe.

Volvo is most safest IMO.

Have u checked out XC90, so luxury and SUV.

don't have money to ask volvo if their XC90(singapore version) have 3rd row seats. but yes, Volvo XC90 does have 3rd row seats option.

Think not SG version. Seem 3rd row XC90 here in BKK. But not in SG.

fast car ??

hehe... suv/mpv is the wrong car to choose my friend...

you should get a normal sedan... else, no matter how safe is a SUV/MPV, risk of rollover is high.

XC90 and all road has no record of rollover so far

IMO .... all SUV tends to roll a little more than sedans / MPV as they are so much higher !!!

BTW, all SUVs in SG are not meant for off road usage .... firstly most are under powered , road handling is also an issue , tyres ..... so many more things .... do think twice when u wanna bring it off road ....

The thought of driving any SUV through Malaysia is a daunting task .... u get wat i meant ..... They are the Hottest property over there !!!

As far as I know, Volvo, Audi brands are safe in Malaysia. Because difficult to sale :D

I parked my car almost everywhere in Malaysia, difficult to take away and sale.

So quite safe har

xc90 is a solid suv. not easy to topple due to their "gyro" mechanism that maintain the balance of the vehicle.

it's powerful too... 250kmh is electronically speed limited.

remembered reading somewhere... s60 & s80 have reported cases of very high radiation output compare to other cars.. in the leg area. this is because of the high concentration of electronic gadgets there...

i think this has raised some concern. Volvo came out with a statement that because there is no proof of radiation(phone type) causes misfortune, they have no intention to solve the high-radiation thing... todate, i do not know if this is still a problem and whether does the XC90 have high radiation output at the foot rest(driver) area or this is no longer an issue...

this has put me off in getting a s60 many times...

oh btw, i'm not a rich bugger :) just a normal person... msian working in spore... so, remember, cannot afford to get a s60 in spore. but maybe can only get the tyres first :)

so, when i need to buy stuffs from pasar malam... don't sell at a premium price hoh....

The Volvo XC90 does have the third row seats as an option. I think it is standard in the T6 version. Just have a look at SM Motors showroom.

The Toyota Landcruiser or Lexus Cygnus and Landrover Discovery also have fold away third row seats. I don't think the Prado has it thought. Don't forget Range Rover and Jeep Grand Cherokee. There's also the unique Toyota Kruger or Lexus GX330 which looks like a station wagon on steroids and can be used in the Australian outback unlike the soft Harrier or GX300. Something special will be a black Mercedes Benz G-wagen!

American MPV will be the Chrysler Voyager.
