I won't risk trying with the fire goby. Chances are the lion would be able to eat that.

Angels and Tangs should do ok, so long as their bigger. If your talking about dwarf angels, i think it won't be wise to risk it either.

it will be safer if the mouth of the lionfish is smaller than the fishes ...

what would you feed the lionfish anyway??

live shrimps?

I thought of getting one as well but puts alot of restrictions on the other fishes that i can keep.

6ft x 2ft x 3ft

Suggestions so far.

1. Remove coral chips and ceramic rings and replace with live rocks. removed...looking for live rocks now

2. get rid of most of the filter cloth

3. First Buy!!! Skimz FR with Sorb4 and eheim pump

4. Re-doing the sump.....I~aquatic doing up the plans.

5. Lighting MH+T5 or T5 only? how many?

6. Chiller?

7. Wave maker

8. check valve on the return line to prevent sump overflow (great idea)

9. Refugium? Anything to replace it? a FR of some sort maybe?

Tank Inhabitants

1x Blue Tang

1x picasso trigger

2x Brown Tang

1x pygmy angel

2x Stripped Damselfish

3x False Percula Clownfish

I'm keeping my lions with a yellow tang and a tomato clown. Lions are 8" but they seem to ignore the other two mentioned. I've weaned them to frozen and maybe thats why. I'm not too sure about angels tho, they tend to nib at the fins of your beautiful lion. Lions are not as aggressive as they are thought to be;pretty docile actually.

Expresso:

Just in case you miss this posting:

Here is my 2 cts:

To my classification, the Lionfish is the exotic "villian" of the aquarium.

Reason being they are very predatory in behaviour being carnivores ie taking small fishes with their large mouths.

You can train them to a diet of frozen mysis or live brine shrimp.

Take note that their fins are not just there for show as they have poisonous stinging cells and will inflict a very painful wound. They are there for a purpose!

My Take: Avoid this fish even though this fish in your tank is a talking point for any visitor who sees a Lionfish in your aquarium!

Lionfish are very docile, no harm will they inflict unless cornered or provoked. I do agree that care must be undertaken with this fish around but i reckon branding them dangerous or best to avoid is kinda overating. Try to get a medium size one as the small guys are hard to wean.

No offence to anyone:)
