is anemone shrimp eaing carpet anemone?

Recommended Posts

 Hi around 1 mth back i paired an anemone shrimp and my carpet together.. initially it was alright but then i noticed as time went by, the no. of tentacles of the carpet seemed to be getting lesser. Is the anemone shrimp eating the tentacles? because the anemone shrimp doesnt seem to feed on any of the food i feed my other livestock.

Also issit notmal for the carpet to expand and deflate several times in a day?

I would expect the carpet anemone to eat the anemone shrimp instead. Not many species of clownfish will stay with a carpet anemone too. Anyway, you talking about the normal anemone shrimp? I used to keep them without anemones and they ate anything I fed them. They did'nt live past a few weeks without a host though..that's why now I refrain from keeping them.

Always something more important than fish.

Initially i had a anemone for the shrimp...soon after the anemone RIP. Since then, the shrimp has been with my goniopora. :D And the gonio seems happy with it and its doing very well. The shrimp is eating whatever i throw in. Time to time when i target feed my sun coral with the syringe, i'll target feed a little to them. But the shrimp by its own doesnt need to target fed.

Btw, i've got the shrimp for like 3-4mths and it molted a few times already. Mine is the White spot anemone shrimp. ;)
