i only have alage problem on the left hand side of my tank. izzit becos of the direct sunlight shine on my tank?

i used to have a little bit of those on the glass ( same height as the sand)

Occasionally i would scrub it clean using a sponge

it stopped once i fixed a powerhead for circulation in my tank...

dont know if its related or not, perhaps other more experiaced reefers could explain it...

See picture carefully... Snails cannot reach them... They grow from the sand upwards..

Try a PH at that area.. See if it works..

It should be caused by the sunlight.. Because if its your aquarium lights, then it should be on the sand surface only.. not from within the sand..

ME.. mine is even worst .. some of the sand is brown like red beans... fren man cannot load the pic into com.. connecting problem...

Algae will grow on the glass covered by sand if there is light. No big deal.

If you just clean off the algae above the sand or keep snails to feed on the algae then all will be fine. Those are diatoms and a powerhead won't faze them. Most snails like nibbling at them.

my tank is 3ft by 1.5 by 1.5, how many turbo snails will do the job??
