I am just wondering to upgrade to chiller, my cooling fans are noisy ( 2 x 4" ) like airplane in the house ( esp at night, can hear from upstair ).

So is chiller noiser than cooling fan ? ( any brand ).

If yes, no point upgrading i believe.

If no, than may need to go shopping :(

Any suggestion please

I have used the Ocean and the Profantec(spelling...) fans before upgrading to a chiller.

IMO...the Profantec seems quieter than the Ocean ones.

As for chiller. mine only makes noise when it has to start cooling and the noise is rather bearable. Just like when you heard your fridge doing its runs at times... :P

But I still feel a chiller is better than fans as they will be more variety in terms of livestock to choose from and also the less frequent topping ups that you have to do... :)

Thank, I was thinking that chiller should not be more noisy than Fan.

I understand that chiller will work only a few time a day. how about the rest time ? noisy ?

Also depends on the size of ur tank. A chiller for bigger tank tend to be more noise than a smaller one.

I am using teco680 for 4ft.. quite still

Tank 4x2x2.5

feedback from my own experience...

my tank and sump is about the same as yours (36"x24"x24" tank, 30"x18"x16" sump) and i am chilling it with a Arctica DBA-150.

when the chiller is running, it is much quieter than my cooling fan (6" fan) inside my sump cabinet anytime ... be it night or day...

and of'cos if the chiller is not running ... its dead quiet.

hope it help.

CHEERS !

Agree with all the above.

But you're in the wrong forum!! This is not a product review: you should be posting in marine equipment... I made that mistake too before.

cheers

Sound very impresive.

Where do u house the chiller ?

I have very limited place, only best place is outside the house and it's common corridor ;)

I placed my chiller at my balcony just next to my living hall... if you are placing it outside the house or at the common corridor .. i bet you don't even hear a thing since it is in the open ...
