My latest addition : Juv Emperor

Recommended Posts

Hi all Angel lovers,

Went Pasir Ris today and bought a new fish today juz would like to showcase it here, nothing spectacular, but something I always liked, the Juvenile Imperator!

Didn't realise this poor fella had 2 torn fins when I bought it as I didn't really spend much time inspecting it, but it has nice circles and a nice shape... :)

The best part is......... after a few hours in my beta box, the fish started eating cyclopeeze and mysis shrimps! kekeke.....

Hi, that's look likes a healthy fish, but i don't know why, most of juve emperor is easily starve to death eventhough the eat well, but they are not as though as other juve angel likes juve koran, juve anularis or juve six-bar.

:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Agree with Asfur ........ I had kept a Juv. emperor about 2-3 " its eat well and very healthy but.......after 1 wk its died...... :(:(:(

Yup,

dat's how I lost my last Emperor Juv, feisty fella eating very well, but just died, I tink is the nutrition in the food and also the quality of the water. The death of my last Juv Emperor coincided with a spike in my phosphates levels. So now I'm pretty wary...`:(

Try giving it a varied diet as possible. Chopped shellfish, prawns, even algae. Try buying occassional sponges for the angel to graze on. As juveniles grow rapidly, deficiency in certain nutrients or even essential amino acids would cause negative impacts on the fish. You could try enriching the food with selcon (a vitamin and essential fatty acid supplement) too. ;)

Always something more important than fish.

Hmmm.... this Emperor turn out to be another feisty fella, eating immediately when released into the main tank, was kept in a Beta Box for 3 days.... can tell the torn fin is causing it to swim less conveniently, but the fish is still up there with the rest chasing food! Hope its fin can recover soon! :nc:

my last experience with Juv Emporer was quite good....Got it dirt cheap as it was swimming in a funny manner ans the lfs owner not very confident. initally it has problem competing for food with my blue tang...but after 3 month it has grow larger then the tang!

feed it (and all my other fishes) a wide varity of food including, brine shrimps, mysis shrimps, mussles, nori...etc...IMHO, don't stress it too much by confiding it in a betta cage, release it as quickly as possible to the main tank or your sump, unless you have a QT that is at least 2 feet....

So far I always prefer to keep my fish in a beta box 1st, so dat I can train them to eat, after that den release, if not, like one of the Powder Blues I kept, it never learn how to eat and die of starvation..... :(

hi guys... well.. to what i experience..try not to feed them too much with pellets food... cos their colour will fade... although the manufacturer have claim that they have colour enhancement in it... so far most of the angel will colour up when they are fed with mixture of live, frozen food... as well as nori and some other algae...

Hmm.... have not really experienced this b4, but used to have an Emperor Juz dat faded in colour, but the guy was infected with ich, so I thought it was the ich's fault.... Now I'm feeding daily Cyclopeeze, frozen BS/Mysis, Henry's recipe.. hope it works... :)

Hmmm... Think can add in to my fish list... hehe...

try to get those with a complete unbroken circle at the tail... i tink they look much nicer... Also, u really need to train it to eat in a beta box before releasing it to the main tank... :)
