h&S skimmer

hi guys, recently my h&S skimmer stop foaming..

the neck is very black and dirty..but it just cant push the bubbles into the cup.. i have washed the whole skimmer and the pump but its still the same.. anyone know whats wrong?

Maybe it has skimmed out everything for the moment?

IMHO, u can oso try checking ur salinity and Kh, somehow or rather, they play a part in the skimming too. or is there nothing to skim? or did u notice this problem after feeding?

alright will test for the salinity and kh later... feeding.. its the same.. no change from before,only feed more than before..so i assume there should have more skimmate.. instead there is no skimate!?

try adjusting the water bubbling lvel again.

i have to tweak mine every now and then too.

i noticed that during feeding, there will be a drop in skimmer's efficiency for the latter hour or so....... is this what is happening to u now?

Does salinity really cause a different in skimming?

my SG is 1.008 as treating for itch and i dun see kopi-o from my H&S...

anyone pls

yes....you will not even be able to produce fine bubbles if you are using freshwater....i think at 1.008 it might not skim

Normall the skimmer will stop skimming after the following senerio:

(1) put our itchy hand into the tank: our skim has oil tt affect the skimmer

(2) Feeding: contains oil, fats, etc

(3) additives: will either stop skimming or cause MASSIVE amt of skimming

No worries, skimming should return to normal ranging froma few hrs to a day or 2

tat why i am thinking of the low SG cost it not able to skim kopi-o as i trust H&S stuff...
