Earlier part of this year…still encounter on and off sudden corals dying off especially added in some expired supplements from FM. Anyone experienced this before? Expired reef supplements killing ur corals (sudden stn/rtn next day?) So do noted that some of these corals pictured are no longer with me as they just suddenly died off.F54CD106-48B4-40D6-A393-6A2960023775.jpeg.39417a56819f6f6adacad2b8629e1c19.jpeg

Did some diy….looks ugly hahaha but important thing is save money. Amazing thing is small fishes still leap thru the same gap between tank and cover. Conclusion….some fishes just want to die.

FTS back in end January. Starting to look more decent but still lacking in something. Have this unbalanced shape about this scape and limited corals I can put in. In fact this scape u r seeing have already added more flat mini rocks in the middle to top area to make it look fuller. Now need to do something about the bottom right and top left.

Dunno why but tenuis is most difficult to keep imo, it will started ok in my tank for a mth or so and later will start to have problems, brown slim algae growing on the tips or stn/rtn somewhere. All parameters checked to be ok. Rest of the acroporas usually unharmed. In some isolated cases at most Millies are affected. In general rest of tha acros’ health are ok.

More brown tips spreading all over to all of my tenuis and some of my oz acroporas…decided to break the spreading today by dislodging and bringing some of the affected corals to my nano tank and threw away those beyond saving.F15396CB-7F68-4DB4-A1F9-F545B443A66B.jpeg.38c72917fe316a0886d3e5e751f3efac.jpeg

Thot is just a simple task of throwing away half dead sps and relocating my brown tips sps to my nano tank (sharing same sump). But Murphy won’t listen and had to come look me up….one of the huge branch broke and I have to somehow find a way to stick it back cos I really like the tree branch scape look.

At first thot, I think sure no problem can glue it back the same spot. So I applied lots of glue gel on the broken joints. But alas…way to heavy to hold up. Next solution, I thinking to place in top of some intersection and glued and add epoxy to strengthen the joints. Ok, this is what I did…

Final scape look like this minus all the sick corals.

Still have a one or two acros having tiny bits of burnt tips but I leaving them as it is as my nano tank also have limited space and keep my fingers crossed to monitor if they can self recover by themselves.

My PO4 is rocket high this morning…0.34ppm!! Using this last nite….wondering if it’s due to the new bacteria at work? As 2 days ago is 0.17ppm. Nonetheless I think it’s time to change the po4 removing media.9DBB94AF-9ADF-4DA7-BE55-0637C5202D36.jpeg.6c452d5354cbac7470784384a0455d8d.jpeg

Found this quite similar to my problems. As my other parameters looks good, leds looked like the likely culprit. Now have to lower my light intensity and acclimatized my tank’s acros all over again.

This was what happened to me too. Started feeding more which led to high PO4 but still had the same burnt tips. The mistake I had was not testing for NO3 as my NO3 was bottoming out. Dosing NO3 did help and my SPS are doing better now.

Would also recommend to stop all forms of dosing (bacteria/carbon/amino acids) and just rely on good old water changes for the next 2 months.

Realized my potassium kinda low at 350ppm and the suspected my trace could be low as well. Started dosing both and almost immediately saw some improvements the next day. Now my K reading back to 400 and my no3 at 10pm and po4 at 0.18ppm. Will try to reduce my nutrients further to approx 5ppm for no3 and 0.05ppm for po4.

Corner plastic brackets can’t really fit in even though dimensions for 12mm due to the silicon works at the edge of the glass. Don’t really dare to slice the silicon to fit it in and compromise the structure of the tank.

Just the net and the plastic corner bracket fixtures. The net have a few sizes depending on which ones suitable for ur tank size and u trim accordingly as its usually oversized to use from the start.
