true i agree. but with so much problem lately(few months back CCK, bukit panjang black out too), is the contigency plan etc works???

Also the excuse is really BS. No natural gas suplly cos at this? Is SP telling us, the electricity we are getting have to rely on real time gas supply from Indonesia??? If this is the case, I am worry......

This is singapore guys, pay for the hikes, wait for a discount dat doesnt happen, pray for good service and get hit with lousy excuses...

I guess this has just exposed us tiny singaporeans to a super easy way of attacking our country, by putting it in near total darkness...

Just count the number of areas affected...

on the otherhand...it sets me thinking...we are so reliant on natural resources that we are in lack of... :(

The only thing that suffices is Human Capital but what if one day...this asset is also taken away?

Woe behold us? :(

The penalty for the 1st disruption is not out yet, which was expected to be a fine of 1mil or a % of profit...

and July we are going to have a rate increase due to higher operation cost...

looks like the consumer is always at the losing end!

Thanks to the failure Power Net project!

End up a min flood of abt 5l of water in my home :P

That's BS!

There should be enough gas supplies in Singapore to ensure the power station generators are running for at least a few days.

Are we that dependant on regular gas supplies that a turn of the gas tap and the economy of Singapore grinds to a halt? :erm:

terrorist attack... they bombed the powerstation. govt covering up to prevent panic. :o

hahahaha

Disruption to natural gas is BS, IMO. How can this account for pockets of places not affected? And to tell us that our supply rely on real time gas from indonesia, scares me!

Think it's time to do a bulk order for UPS.

I think (marine) therefore I am

here's a rough guide on APC SMART-UPS (pure sine wave)

running 50W power draw -->enough for tunze streams

hours: minutes

2:10 APC Smart-UPS 750VA USB RM 1U 230V

2:04 APC Smart-UPS 750VA USB RM 2U 230V

2:10 APC Smart-UPS 1000VA USB & Serial RM 1U 230V

4:02 APC Smart-UPS 1000VA USB & Serial RM 2U 230V

5:21 APC Smart-UPS 1500VA USB & Serial RM 2U 230V

5:19 APC Smart-UPS 2200VA USB & Serial RM 2U 230V

8:51 APC Smart-UPS 3000VA RM 5U 230V

5:47 APC Smart-UPS 3000VA USB & Serial RM 2U 230V

11:22 APC Smart-UPS 5000VA RM 5U 230V Black

11:13 APC Smart-UPS 5000VA RM 5U 230V

so in theory if i plug in less than 50W worth of appliance....ie.tunze..

i can get the streams to work for 5hours 21 minutes as mine is the 1500VA model...hope it helps bros visualise the usage better :)

tanzy, i am not APC salesman also hor :P

if running 200W

0:31 APC Smart-UPS 750VA USB RM 1U 230V

0:23 APC Smart-UPS 750VA USB RM 2U 230V

0:31 APC Smart-UPS 1000VA USB & Serial RM 1U 230V

1:04 APC Smart-UPS 1000VA USB & Serial RM 2U 230V

1:31 APC Smart-UPS 1500VA USB & Serial RM 2U 230V

1:38 APC Smart-UPS 2200VA USB & Serial RM 2U 230V

3:05 APC Smart-UPS 3000VA RM 5U 230V

1:46 APC Smart-UPS 3000VA USB & Serial RM 2U 230V

4:51 APC Smart-UPS 5000VA RM 5U 230V Black

4:47 APC Smart-UPS 5000VA RM 5U 230V

200W, only if you wanna run return pumps...but my take is that just run the streams enough for those with streams....then can make the UPS give more hours of runtime in case you dunno when the power comes back

the best part is that once the power is out, it takes over and provides power for your streams without you having to lift a finger and when the power is back on, it charges itself back...fuss free..

the only irritating thing when it gets to battery mode to power your devices are that it keeps beeping at intervals...just press one button to SILENCE it...hehe

some APC UPS on auction at yahoo...

http://search.auctions.shopping.yahoo.com/...g&p=APC&auccat=

but then...not all models are SMART models...the normal models output modified sine wave which will not work well with eheim pumps or tunze streams...tried and tested...dun waste time

get the SMART models, but remember to change battery coz the runtimes above are for new batteries...those on auction models, their batteries tend to be quite used already

hope to be of help :)
