What kind your lighting did you use ? I'm in the mist of cycing my tank, was thinking of using a 36W 12K and 18W actinic for my setup.

Both actually... clam passed away due to lack of TLC on my part... sigh...

I used 2x36W, one 10k, one 50/50.... but it's bigger than the tank... so looks quite weird...

Thought beach sand (esp SG) would have high silicate content? Plus illegal.

hmm..... i think singapore sand is fine...... i personally used them before...... and a couple of ppl who used them... all no problems..... but the only diff is that i used weet sand frm the middle of the sea...... not exactly middle..... its quite a distance from the beach.....
