Layman term..

Angle bars.. Corrodes easily.. No point.. We find thicker angle bars that rusted till it crumbles underwater all the time..

No matter how many layers of primers or paint you put on it also no use.. It will rust inside out.. from the bottom..

erm off topic i know but kinda curious which type of wood is good to withstand the HEAT of MH light ?

as lights will be mounted just below it !

Ermm... I thought you need to put a reflector between the wood and your bulb?

That would serve as a shield for the wood..

MH bulbs are not hot enough to start a fire with wood if spaced out properly. As long the bulb is not in contact with the wood it's OK. Some MH hoods are even made of acrylic.

OFF topic again sorry but i came across a thread in RC site someone was suggesting in using metal to construct the hood for MH or VHO as they claim that way it will disfuse the heat faster
