Waterlife Octozin or Aquapharm Cure-Ich?

I'm having a severe ich outbreak in my tank now and will try out Octozin or Aquapharm Cure-Ich. Do you think these products completely reef-safe (for corals and inverts, I don't have clams)? Which one is better?

None of the above, both are controversial... some say no effect but some say inverts started dieing etc etc

A strict no-no is clams... have to be removed from tank.

I've used octozin..no adverse side effects. Not sure for the aquapharm though..

imho, fetch the fish out of the main tank and do fresh water plus either one of your chemical. Anything you add to the main tank, especially this kinda chemical, cannot be removed. Mre headache later.

My personal experience to share, I have used the aquapharm cure ich with under dose in main tank but no improvement. Quite regret after dosing cos worry kill my other stuffs. But nothing die...probably 50% conc. only. I then followed by fresh water dip and then dip in a small pail with cure-ich of the right concentration... ich persist for the week that follow.

Then another week pass and bought small intank UV, within a week ich disappeared. After about 3 weeks with small UV, I removed it and now seems to have a spot or 2...*sign* wonder if UV really help or just coincident.

FuEl, when you used Octozin, did it kill the ich and save your fishes?

I have soft corals and many inverts (snails, hermit crabs, starfishes and shrimps). Is it harmless to these corals and inverts?

Should we follow the dose on the bottle (1 tablet per 22.5 litre) or reduce the dose a bit? My tank is about 400 litre (100 galon) so it'd take 16-18 tables if I want to follow the written dose.

I am in the process of aquapharm ich cure.... for about 6 days... coral still ok

yes... my regal was scratching every day before med .... but now totally not scratching from the day after medication.

I just put 15 tablets of Octozin to my tank. I notice the mushrooms, torch coral, and polyphs were closing immediately. Snails, shrimps and crabs are not affected so far. Will keep you updated on the progress. Wish me luck!

sure. good luck. i want to see which medication can kill ich completely... I may also get octozin to make sure all ich died completely

I used octozin quite some time ago. Took about a week or so to see the effects. Did'nt remove anything from the tank...but if I did'nt remember wrongly you have to remove echinoderms (starfish, urchins, cukes etc)..not sure..just open up and read the instructions before you buy the medication. Always have good carbon on hand in case you overdose.

If I'm not wrong octozin is biodegradable. So once its effectiveness is gone and you introduce new fish, corals or even rocks into your tank without quarantine you have chances of reintroducing ich back into your system. If your fish are healthy they should not contract ich that easily again. Ich is not the problem you should start to fix. It should be the water conditions.

I've completed the 3-days treatment of using Octozin. Corals and inverts seem not affected at all. But my fishes are still getting ich at night. Is this normal? How long should I wait till I can see improvement on the fishes?

Another thing, I also notice a lost of appetite on some fishes after using Octozin. Is thir normal?

Should I turn on my protein skimmer now? Should I do a water change? Should I use activated carbon to absorb the medication now?

Sorry for the too many questions, cause this is the first time I'm using Octozin. Thanks!

juz follow the proper instructions for octozin........ i hv used it b4 and it works........ but nowadays, i juz leave the LS to recover by themselves if they got ich.

Have no problems using Octozin for ick treatment. But more importantly, suggest to get sera-fishtamin :

1. to support the healing process during and after diseases.

2.simply add sera fishtamin onto the food or directly into the aquarium.

So that they get well better and faster !

Okay, just did 20% water change and add polyfilter to my eheim to remove the medication remnants. Protein skimmer I've turned on since last night. I'm now hoping my fishes will recover fully within the next few days.

Hyposalinity Treatment

Hyposalinity is a very effective treatment for parasitic conditions such as Marine "Ich" (Cryptocaryon irritans.) and can also be used to lower stress in fish.

What is Hyposalinity?

Hyposalinity is adjusting the salinity of the water to somewhat less the that of natural sea water. "Hypo" comes from Greek and means under or below. For the treatment to be effective the salinity needs to be lowered to 12-14‰ which is equivalent to a specific gravity of 1.009 (d20/20) at normal tank temperatures (26-28°C - 79-82°F). Normal sea water has a salinity of 35permil; (Gross, 1977).

Honestly I find it very troublesome.....and I am have problem catching my fish.

My powder brown kanna ich like nobody business....thought I should let it recover because my Blue Tang and Brown Tang recovers itself.......but.....its getting worse each day.....now it is like poker dot tang!...Sigh

Now It has infected my brown, blue and sailfin and I am beginning to worry. Sigh!

Go to any lfs that carry this sera products.. I brought mine at yishun cantral.... But fail to find sera cryptopur and instead brought sera costapur to treat ich with Octozin and fishtamin .

Hi guys....sigh!....I couldnt find either of those you guys have mentioned.....saw sera cyprinopur instead of sera crytopur!! .....didnt dare to try.........but saw this "Kick-Ich" by Ruby Reef.....claim it is Reef Safe and No copper.....safe for all fish, plants, corals and invertebrates.....

But...sigh....very costly.....

Just hope it will eliminate all the white spot during this 15 day treatments!
