I hear funny sounds from my tank....

As my tank is just next to my workdesk at home, sometimes when I'm working, I hear funny sounds (like marbles knocking! those who used to pak goli alot should know exactly how it sounds like!) coming from my tank!

Any idea what's the cause of the noise? Dead fish rising from the watery grave??! The following are the inhabitants of my tank:

1 X Velvet Damsel

1 X False Perc Clownfish

1 X Domino Damsel

1 X Electric Blue Damsel

1 X Royal Dottyback

1 X Blood Fire Shrimp

1 X Skunk Shrimp

1 X Unidentified crab :pinch:

1 X Bubble Tip Anemone

+ some assorted LPS, leather corals

Sigh! Could it be some unknown inhabitant?? Wondering if that mysterious sound could be a cause for concern!

Well... I do have 3 turbo snails... they may be cause... only worried if it's something more sinister.

I did see a couple of weeks ago, some shrimp like invert was scooting around my tank hidden on my live rock. But I couldn't make out what it was cos it's too bloody fast. :eyeblur:

Grrr.... may have to start making plans for trapping evil creatures leow! :pinch:

There...it's your turbo snails like I guessed. The sound of marbles knocking onto each other are similar to hard snail shells knocking repeatedly against the glass. Pistol or mantis shrimp clicks won't sound like that..They would sound sharp and shocking.. Furthermore they normally don't make the sounds in succession..;)

Always something more important than fish.

Okok... kum xiah! For awhile, was worried if the clicking sound could have been from other causes. After when I get the pistols from you, then my tank would be having all sorts of noises!!!  Hiakz~ :yeah:

You want I got turbo snails to give for free. Then your tank more noisy.. Elderly turbo snails that have been kept by me for 2 years at least..

The mantis shrimps makes sounds in succession.. well, at least mine did.. that is till I managed to annihilate it.. and all was peaceful again till pistols are added deliberately...

I was reading a article previously and it did mention that 'pops' in succession actually indicates the presence of a Mantis, the smasher version....

Wah...don't scare him la...Meanpokman..You can do this to be sure...pick up one of your snails..place it at the 90 degree corner of the tank sides...Once it starts to adhere to the glass and start moving around use a small straw or any narrow object to gently irritate (poke gently) the foot of the snail. See what it does with its shell on the glass and see if the sound produced is what you hear. ;)

Alternatively remove the snails from the tank for one whole day and see if you continue to hear noise. ;)
