SRC Member Zero Oxygen Posted June 23, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted June 23, 2004 Hmmm found this in reefkeeping 2003 http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2003-03/rs/feature/index.htm It talks about the salt that we use..... And it seems that coralife, isnt really that good......hmmm i myself have been using coralife since from the start..... Take a look at the tables in the page, it gives quite a good comparison using the amount of larvae that developed in the different kind of salt mix and sea water. One of the interesting portion. <So, the average number of larvae that developed in samples of water made with <Instant Ocean and Coralife salts was highly statistically different, and far lower, <than the number found developing in natural sea water. On the other hand, the <average number found in samples of water made with Crystal Sea Marinemix <Bioassay Formula and Bio-Sea Marinemix salts was not significantly different <from that found developing in natural sea water. Achilles Tang
I've been using Coralife for many years now also... don't see any slowdown in coral growth or microlife.

SRC Member patrick123 Posted June 25, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted June 25, 2004 I highly suspect these reports have commercial interest in them. Read a few reports and all of them report different things. May be we can just go changi beach and get the sea water ourselves.
SRC Member lastmanstanding Posted June 26, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted June 26, 2004 Do you all add water conditioners like chlorine/chloramine remover when mixing salt water? thanks
