If you want a new car, the hyundai Getz is pretty good and affordable at 1.3l.

If you want to go for used car, there are many.

Be aware that Getz is cheaper because many other features are not there like ABS, Airbag. It was one of my choice when I was looking for a ride too but decided that safety is more important.

Go to http://www.getzclub.com for more info.

Another option would be Honda City...but I hate the shape.

Think must first decide on budget, taking into account amount can afford per month.....then choose cars within the range.

$700 over how many years? Don't forget 2.2% interest and how much loan are you actually taking. In other words, how much cash do you have at the moment.

$700 for installment or for everything including parking, petrol etc.

If only for installment, can go for 1.3l to 1.6l Korean, Jap cars.

Models to consider : Matrix, Civic, Altis, Mazda 3, sunny, Lancer etc

If for everything, go for City, Vios, Madza 2, Getz etc

Go car showroom and check on details with them. They will calculate for you. My advice is don't go for 10 years cos you pay higher and more interest. Max go for 7 years.

fork out more monthly = spend less on the car :peace:

if u choose to take a 10year loan, u won't even OWN the car you're driving! you're RENTING it... why? because when u pay the last penny after 10 years, then you'll have to pay COE... <_<

The world is such a wicked place, war btween the human race. People work to earn their bread, while across the sea they're counting dead

Don't forget you need some cash to pay downpayment, COE, road tax, insurance, and first month instalment for the car.

I think the new Ford Laser looks pretty good.

Delivery of cars may not be as fast as you think, especially for 1.6 so plan 3-4 months ahead.

korean car is cheaper, but in the long run the repairs are more X.

Japan car more X, but in long run, maintain alot cheaper.

petrol consumption for korean cars also higher.

Korean car in the budget range, I will says Hyundai Matrix.

The best seller MPV in Singapore. Go for the manual one, auto

is a petrol sucker.

n you better do your maths abt owning a car. Ask a car financial analyst if they have one. Petrol, road tax, repairs, parking, insurance, installment, chow chow one month $1.5k++.

If your job oki, then might as well go for a reliable 2nd hand Japan car.

Or even a proton. repair across JB damn dirt cheap.

I would recommend for long term considerations...(let's say you want to drive the car for 4 years...then changed to another car), it would be better to get a Jap car. Personally, I am a Toyota fan.... the resale value is higher.

For Matrix....not only is the car made in Korea (nothing wrong, but lower resale value), it is a petrol sucker for a 1.6l car. And when you want to sell it, there will be tons of these 'hottest' MPV out there on sale as well...

I like the handle of Toyota cars. Parts are cheap too ...

Nissan march is indeed lovely....but noticed most ladies driving it.... Car is very compact....tried it once....for that money...I can get a bigger car...at least a nissan sunny :erm:

its style and statement versus functionality .....got $$$$....dun mind ;)

bwilly is right...if you are lucky, can find a very good second hand car with 5-6 years left.....

Personnally, quite a bit of my family income went to my Rav4. every month...ouch.,sometimes I wished I am holding a highly paid job .... oh well...

bro if u are getting a 1.6L car(any makes or model) and ur installment

is around $500, u need to stand by $1200 every month( including installment, petrol, carpark, ERP, insurance, rd tax, maintance, etc.....)<_<

my suggestion is get a 2-3 yrs old Toyota Corolla or the new Altis (depending on your budget for monthly installment). So far, should be the most economical in fuel consumption in that range of cars, can hit 13-15km/l easily.

And with the larger market share for the last few years, the oem spare parts are readily avail in S'pore or malaysia, so no need to concern abt service and repair cost.
