LR curing method?

Hi, need advice on the fastest way to cure a LR that I have just "disinfected" it due to overgrown aiptasia.

I have gotten the big piece of LR from a LFS and when I placed in my display tank, I noticed that it is full of aiptasia. I have no choice but to take out the LR and drench it with hot water. :nuke:

Now I placed the LR in a big container with a powerhead running. Now my kitchen stinks. Will the smell go away after 1 or 2 days? DO I need to change the water frequently?

:thanks:

Put a skimmer in plus air insert to your powerhead will help to reduce the smell in a few hours.

yah... very true.. hopefully not everything dies off... however no worries abt bacteria.. they can grow again.. maybe no more critters..

I got the same experience as you.. took abt 1 week for the smell to go off.. lol

people don't dump their LR in hot water... kills everything on it.

your LR is probably dead rock already... :(

The surface stuff will die off especially those pests but those that are further in should be able to survive. But it is alright since those can be cultivate once the rock can be placed in my main tank as my tank is quite established.

Thinking of adding dead rock next time, cheaper and pest-free.
