I know this sounds like quite cheap skate but wondering what is the cheapest chiller? my budget is ~ $200. is it possible? I just want it to cool a 2x1.5x1.5 tank. simple PL lights. temp can reach 30C during daytime so i just want something to keep it in check at ~ 26C.

thanks.

Well I managed to get my 2nd hand CL450 at $150 after a long long long wait... so yes it is possible but it's DAMN loud... aiyah at that price "mai hiam"....

For such a small tank, assuming w/o MH lights just use a fan and top up water...

Generally I think it's 2-3 degrees... depending on the surface area, wind speed, RH etc etc.. but generally around there lah...

But topping up can be a hassle if not automated... for me I used a table fan to cool my 2.5ft tank with 250W MH.. nothing died... then when I turned off the fan to upgrade to a chiller the temp shot up above 30 in less than 15mins when it was usually around 29... lost a frag.. sigh
