How much live rock needed for 3ft tank?

I have a 3ft x 1.5ft x2 ft tank with a sump. Intend to set it up as a FOWLR tank next week. I want to have a open concept so that there is lots of room for the fish to swim. Anyone can advise roughly how many kg of live rock I should buy?

Use eggcrates to stack ur rocks will allow more room for them to swim about behind the LRs and u wont need to get alot of LRs. How many kg depends on the aquascape u're going to do...IMO if u want to get, get more. Too much den later sell it off.

my tank is the same dimension...i used about 5 pails full of LRs...i think should be around 70-80kg...but some small pieces are in my sump now, about 10-15kg of them...i dun use eggcrates...all LRs only...

Does the thickness of the glass make a different? As in if you were to put in 30 to 40kg of LRs and the tank thickness is only =/<8mm, would the tank be able to handle it?

just buy and put... if not enuff then buy some more loh

the amt is to ur liking n arrangement wat... unless u wan to hav enuff to create a berlin system

Depending on your aquascaping it can be from 30kg to 60kg

For a 3 ft tank with 6mm glass is like waiting for disaster to happen .

If you add in the weight of your sand+rock+salt water you will know what i mean

If you really need to use 6mm glass make sure it comes with full bracing and that your rock arrangement does not come into contact with the tank sides . And try to arrange it so that even if any of the rocks topple they will not hit the tank sides .

hi, lets say if i have 20kg of LR and it is not enuf, then one week later, i added another 10kg of LR.. will it upset the fishes in anyway, or raise any pH, etc?

depends on the vol of ur tank. u might juz kick off another ANN cycle.
