:thanks: sps_dude,

the rocks are stacked in a way that it inter-lock each other firmly (did some kind of shock/balance test to make sure it is stable)...

also i have constructed a circulation piping structure (see below) inside the right rockscape to provide flow circulation inside the rocks corners.. powered by a 1100l/hr pump just above the tank's.

Yes, I am toying with the idea of getting a MH (thank you) ... but not so soon, since i am new to this hobby, think i will acquire the basic knowledge first and get the tank going after which than I consider what stuff I want to invest for upgrading...

Hi LR,

does your piping cover up by the LR is supply by the return water using Weipro MH7000 return pump? and wat's is the consumption watts of the return pump?

regards,

Wee Keong

Moxa (Wee Keong),

the circulation piping inside the liverocks is supported by another smaller pump, just (1100 l/hr) the pump is sitting on top of the tank above the water... so if necessary i can change the pump to a stronger / weaker flowrate as and when i think approporiate..

The Weipro MH7000 (5000 l/hr) is comsuming 75watts, running at 24hrs will cost S$8.82 per month based on current Singapore Power per kHW charges.

I will be constantly on the look out for pump comsuming lower wattage and with same or higher flowrate... HEE... if you come across any, please let me know ..

I hope the above info help..

CHEERS !

Arctica Titanium Chiller : Model DBA-150

getting the above chiller for my tank..  anyone has good/bad feedback on this chiller? would like to hear from you before investing...

Here are some specs from their website on this model

Model: DBA-150

HP: 1/5

Capacity: 2400 btu/hr

volts: 115

Amps: 5.0

Flow Rate: 8 GPM (min) / 22 GPM (max)

Tank size: up to 180 gallons

LiveRock

for your info (those keen in getting this chiller)... i have contacted JBJ - U.S.A. - AQUARIUM PRODUCTS with regards to the DBA-150's power consumption for use in Singapore environment, and reply from them is that:

(1)

The ampere of DBA-150 is 2.5A at 230V 50Hz, and

(2)

Total power consumption of the DBA-150 are:

= Refrigerant Compressor Power Consumption + Fan Motor Power Consumption

= 325W + 24W

= 349W

as such, using 1/5HP x 746watts = 149.2watts is not accurate, anyway, 349watts is still consider low compare to other chillers and its cooling capacity of 2400Btu/hr is consider very efficient (my own opinion).

I'm in for Arctica! Currently using the 1/10hp model for my 2x1.5x1.5, and it has been working well for the last 6 months. I have no regrets buying this chiller. :D

FINALLY !! chiller came yesterday night and now its up and running !!!

My comments about this chiller

(1) NOISE

my 1 unit cooling fan in the sump cabinet is louder than the chiller in operation..

(2) COOLING RATE

Just turn it on for 1½ hour and the tank temperature went down from 30.7degC to 28degC.

... Not sure whether this is fast or not, can someone feedback to me some benchmarking on other chillers? ...

... since this is the first time i start the chiller, i am monitoring it performance and see how it goes..

Overall, quite happy.

Heard the DBA is alot more quiet then the 1/2hp commercial ones.....when I got my fan changed it's become super quiet now and I sometimes wonder if it's still working at all..... Cooling wise it comes on every 45 minutes even with the MH fully on and all the pumps running constantly....it's a super cooler and I am glad I got mine too.
