brine shrip very low nutritional value... think 3% protein or something like that... mysis is 10% protein.. but still not a lot hor? haha.. mysis is far more efficient a food source as compared to brine shrimp lah

IMO, Think that U pic shown are the " Koran Angel '' , That Juv. Six Bar angel.....:lol:

:D Hmm, Regal is correct. <_< Either you're being cheat by the store :pinch: or you don't know the fish when you bought it :erm::pinch: , but it is definetely Juve Six Bar Angel B) . You can search it under the name Pomacanthus Sexstriatus or Six-Banded Angelfish or Six Bar Angelfish. :D This is the juvenile of Koran Angel, the marking is more circle compare to Six Bar.

hi there reeflover,

i think your angel's either a blue ring juvenile or a six bar, though i think its more likely the blue ring as the six bar has a sharper head shape, but i'm not entirely sure as the earlier picture on page two of this thread definitely shows a a six bar angel colour morphing and it looks very much like your angel. one things for sure, definitely not a koran there.

all the same, think youve got a lovely specimen, and blue rings and six bars are toutedly more reefsafe if fed well than korans. i had a koran for more than a year and couldnt understand why my pink dendronepthyas kept dying off till i saw the koran nip a polyp off one day. sigh.. wish to keep a koran though. maybe in the future with a full sps tank. haha

well cheers all,

ian

ps: regarding the earlier discussion about artemia (BS) as compared to mysid shrimps. mysids are better nutritionally because they are naturally ocean-occuring inverts and possess high omega three and HUFA lipid contents, as opposed to brine shrimps that actually occur in salt lakes or salt pools and are nutritionally deficient being indiscriminate filter feeders. whatever is in the water, they will consume through filter-consumption. this said however, they are good delivery vehicles in that they can be fed phytoplankton or a drop or two of clear cod's liver oil several hours before feeding to your fishes. this will boost their nutritional factor.

actually, the frozen brine shrimps are better than live brine shrimps in nutritional content, as they are enhanced with vitamins and lipids, and i think theres not a great difference between using BS or Mysids for fish such as clowns or damsels, but with angel fishes and tangs or such, HLLE or lateral line disease which is caused by vitamin deficiency is far more likely to occur with a diet of brine shrimp rather than mysid shrimp. best feed both. mysids first, then a little brine shrimp.

because brine shrimp is less nutritious, you must feed more, so feeding mysids also helps reduce bioload.

hope my two cents worth helps clear it up. for more, check out wetwebmedia.com. a brilliant site.

wish to keep a koran too but theyll destroy my dendronepthyas. haha

cheers,

hahhaah. a juvenile angel of the pomacanthus family of below two inches will take about twenty years to reach full adult colouration. so its a long wait, but a good long lived fish for a pet.

so if angels die in a year or so, its clearly not to old age/

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

well well well !!!!!!!

guest i have to wait but dunno me or this fish can wait so long...

In life you never know what will happen to you next day :(

How long does the colour change process need to take? One year? Anyone know about it?

As I observe several of my juv. angel that have been changing the color in my own tank. They take about 2-3 month to change from the juv. from to adult. Some of the stripes might be seen during this period, but mostly faded. The process will be fully complete about atleast 3-4 month.

iantoh, I've kept 2 inch Blue koran angel until it change to adult form. This take me about 5 years not 20 na :D

Everyone think that adult koran is ugly? I think that he's very nice!
