good flowrate for tank?

15 to 20 times for me, as some has also advised, assuming your tank capacity is 180 l, then somewhere about 3000 l/hour would be good... get the outflow from different places e.g. 3 PH of 1000 l/h pointing to different directions sounds cool.

Well my tank is 3x1.5x1.5 I have

1 x 1,000l/hr PH @ back of the rock

1 x Eden 288 1,000l/hr PH @ front

HOB skimmer is in display tank, I believe doing 5-700l/hrs

UGF is rated 700l/hr with rain bar

Sump return is 2,500l/hr ( But using only 1/3 so I believe 5-700l/hrs only )

But seem like I still need more. Going for 2,500L/hr with SCWD in next week to replace 2 x PH.

Believe you would able to get some idea here.

Expereinced reefer please advise as well on my setup.

Thank in advance.

juz to share some of my sentiments,

i hv a 101 x 50 x 41 cm tank. roughly abt 3.5 feet long. having a mixed reef. and my wavemakers r as follows, tunze 6060, 4x maxijets, return of abt 3200L.

all in all, turnover is abt 6000 + 4800 + 3200 = 14000L/hr for a 200L tank. :0 :P

:eyebrow::eyebrow: thks reefers. i tink i better use 2000l/hr as main power head n a second power head for wavemaker at 1000l/hr. :eyebrow: any comment?

Think a bit low side (Get more advise from exp guys here). Even for me getting 4,800 L/hr for closed loop. It's just my op

Wooo 14K for 200L tank. Am I seeing wrong calculation or something.

Even if 200L x 20 times = 4,000L only ley. you are almost 70 times. Care to show us (video, or invite us for dinner at your house).

hi guys. need advise on this. whats the best flowrate for me to get for power head in marine tank measuring 3x1.5x1.5? this is my second tank. the first one measuring 2x1x1.5, im using 1000l/hr.:rolleyes: cheers....

I have a 300L 3ft x 2 x 2.5 tank, using 5500l/hr for return & chiller + 2 x resun 1400l/hr powerhead for circulation. Total 8300l/hr. Turnover rate is around 20 times per hr.

Upgrading to 2 x 4800l/hr return + 2 x 1400l/hr PH end of year to boost the turnover rate to 30 times per hr.

IMO, go for as high a turnover rate your overflow piping can allow, better filteration, you will not regret it.

no bro, u r not seeing the wrong thing. as per my signature, from my sepup, u can see that i m using,

1x tunze 6060 = 6000L/hr

4x maxijets = max 1200 x 4 = 4800L/hr

(running pulsating and alternating current via wavemaster pro)

aquabee return pump = 2000L/hr

chiller return via cannister / miscellaneous flow = 1200L/hr

i kidd u not....... u r always welcomed to come take a look. :)

my tank. 4ft by 2ft by 2.5ft...thats a 150gallon tank. add another 25-30 gallon sump..make it 30 lah. so altogether = 180 gallon aka 681.374124L.

okay.

01 x Eheim 1262 for return (3400l/hr)

01 x TS24 (24000l/hr)

01 x Eheim 1250 for chiller/FR (1200l/hr)

01 x Sicce Idra for UV (1300l/hr)

Total Turnover rate = 29,900

.:. Turnover rate of tank = 29,900/681.374124L = 43.88191296 (round up to 44 times)

talk about high turnover rate! I just dismantled another 1262...if not the turnover rate would be 49 times!

Geez guys, look like mime is bit underrate.

Let me see, if I add

1 x 4,800 for Close Loop

1 x 700 from Cannister

1 x 2,800 from Return

Hmm added up only 8,300L/hr only my tank is 3x1.5x1.5 and sump is 2x1x1.5 may be all together 230L so total flow rate could be 8,300 / 230 = 36 times only :(

But we are talking here only the max performance of the devices. I understand that these max performances are measure at point of output. So the actual flow rate will be alot less more depended on distance and configuration of the pipe.

LStrike and Simon, I understand you live in Bishan, so one day I would visit you to witness your enjoyment. Me live in Hougang so not far
