Getting rid of Aiptasia

ONe big problem with getting new LR is the introduction of Aiptasia.

Other than getting a butterfly, peppermint shrimps or using kalk solution or taking the rock out, anyone has any success in using other methods especially using Aiptasia nature enemy (other than the above mentioned)?

By the way, there seems to be a debate on whether peppemint shrimps really eat up Aiptasia. Any opinions to add?

heard of the elegance coral trick?

read that if you press the tentacles of the elegance against the aiptasia it will die in no time. still involves getting ur hands wet though.

keeping elegance is hard enuff.....dun think you want to do that to stress the coral

Is there no other nature enemy?

my peppermints have done a good job on this. Just make sure they're real peppermints and not camel shrimp.

Hmm..Take the whole rock out of water and rub kalk paste all over the aiptasia. I had the pleasure of doing so.

I prefer the nature method if possible 'cause taking the LR in and out of the tank is stressful for the fishes. Also, I avoid putting in my hand too many times into the tank as well.

u cna use long tweesers.... or plant thongs.... to pluck it out...... but u must be fast...... and make sure u get the whole animal aout not the tentacles only.....

My tank is 2.5' deep. Not easy to control a thongs.

so can i say that peppermint shrimps are really safe for reef tanks? cos some webbies say that they do eat corals too...
