SRC Member yazid Posted June 14, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted June 14, 2004 I was tempted to dive during my family holiday to Queensland where the famous Great Barrier Reef was located. I was deprived from Nitrogen! Keep drooling at the sight of dive brochures at the apartment we stayed. Just couldn't leave my family behind. Well, I was at the Sea World entrance when the attendant gave me a brochure "Dive with Sharks" at the Sea World Shark bay. I straight away registered for it although I came unprepared (no swimming trunks). A 20 mins dive with the sharks cost $85. They provide all the gears. The Shark Bay was "infested" with all species of sharks. From shovel nose ray, leopard shark, nurse sharks, white tip, black tip, manta ray, eagle ray on an artificial reef landscape. Reef fish aplenty. Luckily they put the great white shark on another area partition with a glass so that I could see through it. At least my family can see me dive from the glass panel. Ahh! Finally breathing underwater.

SRC Member yazid Posted June 14, 2004 Author SRC Member Share Posted June 14, 2004 The most active of the fish will be the shovel nose ray, the white tip and black tip. Keep bumping to me. Are they blind or what? The leopard shark and nurse shark sleeps most of the time. The leopard shark is bigger than me. The one I saw at P. Dayang was only 1 feet long. The dive guide said stay 1m away from the sharks. Don't touch it. BTW, the eagle and manta ray are babies (1ft long). There are 6 eagle ray always moving in formation. Cool! The shark bay is quite a big lagoon. Max Depth: 2.7m Temp: 27C Surf: No surf Current: No Current Max Time: 22mins
