Protein skimmer effective?

Hey guys!

1. I have a Weipro 2011 and I would like to know if my skimming is effective and where should the bubbles be. Mine is almost at the rim to overflowing! I am not getting the disgusting stuff that you guys are getting in some threads I read. Haha yhew! I am getting very diluted liquid into my collection cup. Lolz...

Btw my tank is rather young and only have two clowns. Is that the reason.

2. One more question. I am using a 1000 litres/hour pump to drive the 2011 skimmer. Would a higher capacity pump lets say 2300 litres/hour be too powerful for the skimmer?

Powerful pump = Better output thus creating good ciculation.

BUT >> Powerful pump = Make skimmer less effective?

SO >> Ideal for 2011 is it what is stated on the box which is 300Gallon/HR?

Hi,

Looking at your skimate, you might have set the water level too high already, try setting it just above the black ring before the taper.

It could be better if a stronger pump is used, but you will have to tune it to the proper level so that the skimate it of the dryer type.

Just my 2 cent.

Haha! Yeah I need those disgusting skimate. I wanna eat it haha!

Anyway I would try lowering the water level within the skimmer and see how it goes. But anyone can answer the second question? Cause I was thinking if a powerful pump is used I can get better water circulation. But I have doubts over whether the skimmer would be of the same efficiency.

I rather have wet wet skimmate than kopi O, Tune water level higher skim very fast skims out the DOCs much faster, KopiO looks disgusting and quite gratifying but not as efficient... But I nowadays I dun care I wanna see black black skimmate or sludge so I tune my water level lower.. for u might be different case, personal preference really... Ur skimmate too wet though...

the only difference between wet and dry skimmate *for me that is* is the ease of maintenance. dry skimmate is kinda hard and disgusting to clean, as compared to wet skimmate. (=

when i scrap the dry thick skimmate i felt shiok.........

show tat my skimmer and setting is good........
