depends on how deep your want your sand bed to be. I used 100kg...40kg in main tank and 60 in sump.

oh by the way the cost is for Grade #0 sand. (= not sure on the other grades.

go to Petmart, give them tank dimensions, and they will tell you how many packets you require. then buy another 2 additional bags for a "just in case" situation.

after that, open up one bag at a time and wash it then dump it in. for those un-opened and un-used bag, can return to Petmart for a refund. but you must tell them in advance first.

that was what I did. I bought 15 bags, but returned 5 for a voucher refund. but I told the aunty behind the counter prior to leaving the shop and seeked approval first. (=

btw anybody can tell me wat is the standard DSB depth in a standard marine tank.........

am i right to say tat it is 6inch..........................?

mine DSB is depth at 6inch but however looking at it may looks dam high leh.........

is it really 6inch huh???????????????

Thomas ah, hope you dun mind i post a picture in your thread. This is a picture of the sump you made for me after setting everything up nicely the entire nite. But the return pump to the sump seems to splash water out everytime leh. You still got acrylic or not? I need to cover that part to prevent water from splashing out leh.
