FOWLR with some items

Recommended Posts

Hi fellow reefers,

I'm new in this marine keepin' hobby. :paiseh: I'm on my way to complete the cycle of my 2 feet tank. I would like to ask the experience reefers  as to whether is it possible for me to maintain FOWLR together with anemone( red to be exact), coco worms & tube worms only. I'm using a Red Sea prizm pro deluxe, DSB, Eden 228 & 1 normal PowerHead. 4 Light, I'm only using FL with single tube actinic blue. Is there anything else I need? Your kind advice & guidance is much appreciated. :thanks:

Regards.

You seem to have a lot of equipment on your 2ft tank...can you give us your complete dimensions of your tank? And is your Prizm Pro Deluxe rated for up to 300 gallons tank? If you want to keep anemone, now is *not* the right time as you may be battling nuisance algae growth and cynobacterial. Wait for at least 6 more months. Use your Prizm Pro Filter Media Basket and stock it with marine-grade carbon and phosphate/silicate remover. Also, your FL lights are not enough; see if you can purchase the 2ft MH light that Octopus Bay is selling. However, since MH light is rather warm, make sure your tank can remain 27-29 deg. Celcius by cooling fan or chiller. Most important of all, protect all your powerheads' intakes with foam to prevent anemone from being sucked in. Of course, you need to clean the foam (with water from your tank and not tap water) at least once a month.

i also suggest leaving the anemone out ;) gg FOWLR mysel  unless u r willing to fork out more cash to get better lighting :erm:

or why nt leave all inverts and corals out first and go with strictly FOWLR and at the same time wait for ur system to stablise futher :peace:

:thanks: guys for all the replies. I'm very much obliged for all the advices & guidances. Well, I guess I've to leave out the idea of the anemone. But guys what if I'm using T5's. I've heard that it generates good source of lighting but less heat. Can I substitute MH lighting to T5's?
